The one reason why there are so many marketers who shirk from using the latest social media platform for marketing even though technology has made it possible is the fact that it is a platform that is relatively less given to being monitored. While there is always the option of blocking and hiding posts, sometimes the harm is done even before you can make amends.
Handling the issues that crop up due to the comments that some miscreants leave on the social platforms requires delicate handling and client management. And this is not all! There are times when disgruntled employees visit the social media platform under disguised names and leave messages that are not supposed to be allowed to be viewed by the public.
While it is not always possible to control what the consumers write, the fact is that the employee of the company is likely to have some specific information that should be kept privy to the company professionals alone.
However there is nothing to fret about because this can be handled with a simple tool. You can use a social media policy that you can get signed by all employees. The fact is the employees have a great deal of flexibility and sometimes they can abuse the power that they have.
This is something that you may not be able to do by prohibiting employees to go on the social media site because it is their right. But you can ban them from uploading misleading information or sharing confidential aspects of the firm that are not supposed to be made public.
To devise a social media policy, make sure that you do not make a document that is too difficult to read. If the policy is too complicated the policy will remain unread by employees. Make sure that you make the policy simple and easy to understand and have a simple point copy of the same too. Have a quiz around the policy to ensure that all employees actually read the document and know what their limits are so that they are aware.
